INGILIZCE REPORTED SPEECH – DOLAYLI ANLATIM – TÜRKÇE KONU ANLATIMI

Bir kişinin söylediğini bildirdiğimizde, fiil şekilleri genellikle bir fiil zaman kipi geçmişe gider.

When we report what someone said, the verb forms generally move one tense into the past.

eg. ” I don’t want to live in London anymore. I’m packing my things and I will take the first plane to Istanbul.”(Örnek : “Artık Londra’da yaşamak istemiyorum.Eşyalarımı topluyorum ve Istanbul’a hareket eden ilk uçağa bineceğim.” )

She said she didn’t want to live in London anymore and she was packing her things and would take the first plane to Istanbul.(Kendisi artık Londra’da’da yaşamak istemediğini ve eşyalarını toparlayarak Istanbul’a hareket eden ilk uçağa bineceğini söyledi.)

Verb forms change in the following way:(Fiil şekilleri aşağıdaki şekillerde değişirler:)

Direct speech —> Reported speech (Dolaysız anlatım —> Dolaylı anlatım)

Present Simple —> Past Simple (Geniş Zaman —> Di’li geçmiş zaman)

Present Continuous —> Past continuous(Şimdiki zaman —> Sürekli geçmiş zaman)

Present Perfect —> Past Perfect (Yakın Geçmiş Zaman —> Miş’li geçmiş zaman)

Past Simple —> Past Perfect (Di’li geçmiş zaman —> Miş’li geçmiş zaman)

Past Continuous —> Past Perfect Continuous (Sürekli Geçmiş Zaman—> Sürekli miş’li geçmiş zaman )

Past Perfect —> NO change (Miş’li Geçmiş Zaman —> Değişiklik YOK)

Past Perfect Continuous —> NO change (Miş’li Geçmiş Zaman —> Değişiklik YOK)

will —> would (istemek —> isterdim)

is going to —> was going to (gidiyor —> gidiyordu)

can —> could(yapılabilir —>yapılabilinirdi)

must —> had to(şart —> gerekiyordu)

-The modal verbs could, should, would, might and ought to don’t change in reported speech.(-Could, should, would, might ve ought to” gereklilik fiilleri dolaylı anlatımda değişmiyorlar.)

– Say doesn’t take an object while tell must take an object.(-“Say” fiilinin bir tümleç alması gerekmiyorken, “tell” in bir tümleç alması gerekiyor.)

eg. She said (that) she was going to… NOT She said me (that) she was…(Örnek : O…gideceğini söyledi )

She told me (that) she was going to… NOT She told (that) she was…

-The Past Simple and the Past Continuous don’t have to change tense in reported speech, but they can.(-Di’li Geçmiş Zaman ve Sürekli Geçmiş Zaman’ın dolaylı anlatımda fiil zaman şekillerini değiştirmeleri gerekmiyor, fakat değiştirebilirler.)

-If what the person says is still true or relevant now, we often don’t change tenses.(-Kişinin söylediği halen doğru ve alakalılığını koruyor ise eğer, çoğu zaman fiil zaman şekillerini değiştirmiyoruz.)

eg. “Smoking is not allowed inside the building” (Örnek : “Binanın içinde sigara içilmesine izin verilmiyor”)

She said smoking is not allowed inside the building.(Kendisi binanın içinde sigara içilmesine izin verilmediğini söyledi.)

-If the reporting verb is in the present tense, then there is no change in tense. (Eğer bildiren fiil şimdiki zamanda geçiyorsa, bu durumda fiil zaman şeklinde bir değişiklik meydana gelmez.)

eg. Dad says I can go to the party tonight if I finish my homework first.(Örnek : Babam önce ev ödevimi bitirirsem bu akşamki partiye gidebileceğimi söylüyor.)

-We sometimes change time expressions in reported speech: (-Dolaylı anlatımda bazen zaman ifadesini değiştiriyoruz:)

tomorrow —> the next day (yarın —> ertesi gün)

next Monday —> the following Monday (gelecek Pazartesi —> ertesi Pazartesi)

last month —> the month before (geçen ay —> bundan önceki ay)

Reported Questions (Dolaylı Sorular)

In reported questions, the word order is the same as in positive sentences.(Dolaylı sorularda, kelime sıralaması olumlu cümlelerdeki ile aynıdır.)

FORM: (He) asked (me)/wanted to know + question word/ if/ whether + subject + verb

(ŞEKİL: (O bana) sordu/bilmek istedi + soru kelimesi/ if/ whether + özne + fiil)

eg. He asked me if I wanted to dance. (Örnek :O bana dans edip istemediğimi sordu.)

She asked him where the nearest station was.(O ona en yakın istasyonun nerede olduğunu sordu.)

He asked her what her name was.(O ona isminin ne olduğunu sordu.)

We use if or whether when we report questions without a question word.(“If” veya “whether” soru kelimesiz sorular bildirdiğimiz zaman kullanırız.)

eg. “Did you see Tom last week?” —> He asked me if I saw Tom last week.(Örnek : “Tom’u geçen hafta gördün mü?” —> O bana Tom’u geçen hafta görüp görmediğimi sordu.)

“Have you been to Hong Kong?” —> She asked me if I’d been to Hong Kong.(“Hong Kong’a gittin mi hiç?” —> O bana hiç Hong Kong’a gidip gitmediğimi sordu.)

We don’t use the auxiliaries do, does or did in reported questions.(Dolaylı sorularda do, does veya did yardımcı fiillerini kullanmayız.)

eg. “How did you get to Ankara?” —> He asked me how I got to Ankara.(Örnek : “Ankara’ya nasıl gittin?” —> O bana Ankara’ya nasıl gittiğimi sordu.)

” What did you do there?” —> He asked me what I did there.(“Orada ne yaptın?” —> Bana orada ne yaptığımı sordu.)

To report imperatives we use: told + object + infinitive with to (Buyrum kipleri bildirmek için: told + tümleç + “with to” ile mastar kullanırız)

eg. “Open the door” —> He told me to open the door. (Örnek : “Kapıyı aç” —> O bana kapıyı açmamı söyledi.)

To report requests we use: asked + object + infinitive with to (Talepleri bildirmek için: asked + tümleç + “with to” ile mastar kullanırız.)

eg. “Can you open the door for me?” —> He asked me to open the door for him. (Örnek : “Benim için kapıyı açabilirmisin acaba?” —> Onun için kapıyı açıp açamıyacağımı sordu.)
