INGILIZCE QUANTIFIERS – NICELIK SIFATLARI – TÜRKÇE KONU ANLATIMI

Nicelik sıfatları, tam sayı belirtmeden, bir şeyin niceliğini veya miktarını belirtmek için kullanılırlar.

Quantifiers are words that are used to state quantity or amount of something without stating the actually number.

Quantifiers answer the questions “How many?” and “How much?”

(Nicelik sıfatları “Kaç Tane?” ve “Ne Kadar?” sorularını cevaplar. )

Quantifiers can be used with plural countable nouns and uncountable nouns.

(Nicelik sıfatları çoğul sayılabilen isimler ve sayılamayan isimler ile birlikte kullanılabilirler.)

Quantifiers must agree with the noun. There are 3 main types of quantifiers:

(Nicelik sıfatları isim ile uyuşmalıdırlar.3 temel nicelik sıfatı çeşidi bulunmaktadır:)

1) Quantifiers that are used with plural countable nouns;

(Çoğul sayılabilen isimler ile birlikte kullanılan nicelik sıfatları)

2) Quantifiers that are used with uncountable nouns; and

(Sayılamayan isimler ile birlikte kullanılan nicelik sıfatları; ve)

3) Quantifiers that are used with either plural countable nouns or uncountable nouns.

(Çoğul sayılabilen isimler veya sayılamayan isimler ile birlikte kullanılan nicelik sıfatları.)

With plural countable nouns we can use:(Çoğul sayılabilen isimler ile:)

a few, not many(“a few”, “not many” kullanabiliriz.)

With uncountable nouns we can use:(Sayılamayan isimler ile:)

a bit of, a little, not much (“a bit of”, “a little”, “not much” kullanabiliriz.)

With both we can use:(İkisi ile birlikte:)

some, any, a lot of/lots of (“some”, “any”, “a lot of/lots of” kullanabiliriz.)

A few, not many, a bit of, a little and not much mean a small quantity

(“A few, not many, a bit of, al ittle ve not much” kullanımı küçük bir miktar anlamına gelir.)

eg. There are a few apples./ There aren’t many apples.

(örnek Orada birkaç elma var./ Orada fazla elma yok.)

There is a bit of milk in the fridge./ There is a little milk in the fridge./ There isn’t much milk in the fridge.

(Buzdolabında biraz süt var./ Buzdolabında az miktarda süt var./ Buzdolabında fazla süt bulunmuyor.)

A lot of/ lots of means a large quantity.

(“A lot of/lots of” büyük – çok miktar anlamına gelir.)

eg. There are lots of shoes on sale./ There are a lot of shoes on sale.

(örnek Satışta bir sürü ayakkabı bulunmaktadır./ Satışta bir çok ayakkabı bulunmaktadır.)

We use some in positive sentences and offers.

(“Some” olumlu cümlelerde ve tekliflerde kullanılır.)

eg. There is some rice in the cupboard.(Örnek: Rafta biraz pirinç var.)

Would you like some more tea?(Biraz daha çay ister miydiniz?)

We use any in negative sentences and questions.

(“Any” olumsuz ve soru cümlelerinde kullanılır.)

eg. There aren’t any pictures on the walls.

(Örnek: Duvarlarda hiç resim yok.)

Do you have any clothes to wash?

(Yıkanacak herhangi bir çamaşırın var mı?)

We can use “No” to mean not any.

(“No” hiç anlamında anlamında kullanılabilir.)

eg. There is no coffee. = There isn’t any coffee.

(Örnek: Hiç kahve yok.)

TIP: We don’t usually use much or many in positive sentences.

(İPUCU: Genelde olumlu cümlelerde “much” veya “many” kullanılmaz.)

eg. I’ve got a lot of free time. NOT I have much free time.

(Örnek: Benim bir sürü boş vaktim bulunmakta. Benim çok boş vaktim bulunmakta şeklinde DEĞİL)

There are a lot of chairs. NOT There are many chairs.

(Orada bir çok sandaleye var. Orada çok sandaleye bulunmakta şeklinde DEĞİL)
