INGILIZCE REPORTING VERBS – BILDIREN FIILLER – TÜRKÇE KONU ANLATIMI

We use a variety of verbs to report what people say.The grammar structure we use after them changes.
Kişilerin söylediğini bildirmek için bir dizi fiil kullanırız.Onların takibindeki gramer yapısı değişiklik gösterir.

“invite”/ “remind”/ “warn” + object + infinitive with to
(“invite”/ “remind”/ “warn” + obje + to ile mastar)

Example (Örnek):
He invited me to go to a party.
(O beni bir partiye gitmeye davet etti.)

I reminded her to bring her ID.
(Ona kimlik kartını getirmesini hatırlattım.)

She warned him not to drive too fast.
(O onu çok hızlı sürmemesi konusunda uyardı.)

 

“offer”/ “refuse”/ “promise”/ “agree”/ “threaten” + infinitive with to
(“offer”/ “refuse”/ “promise”/ “agree”/ “threaten” + to ile mastar)

Example (Örnek):
Tim offered to give me a lift home.
(Tim beni eve götürmeyi teklif etti.)

She refused to accept any help.
(O herhangi bir yardım almayı reddetti.)

He promised to keep the secret.
(O sırrı tutacağı konusunda söz verdi.)

I agreed to do extra shifts at work this week.
(Bu hafta işte ilave vardiyalar çalışmayı kabul ettim.)

He threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
(Birisine söylerse onu öldürmekle tehdit etti.)

“admit”/ “suggest” + verb + ing
(“admit”/ “suggest” + fiil + ing)

Example (Örnek):
Jo admitted breaking the vase.
(Jo vazoyu kırdığını itiraf etti.)

Emily suggested buying a new one.
(Emily yeni bir tane alınmasını önerdi.)

NB: We don’t have to report all the words people say. It’s more important to report the main idea.
(NOT: Kişilerin söylediği her kelimeyi bildirmemiz gerekmiyor.Ana fikri bildirmek daha önemlidir.)

Example (Örnek):
“Don’t forget to lock the door.” —> She reminded them to lock the door.
(“Kapıyı kilitlemeyi unutma.” —> Onlara kapıyı kilitlemelerini hatırlattı.)

Some reporting verbs have more than one verb pattern. After “promise”, “agree”, “admit” and “suggest” we can use “THAT + clause”.

(Bazı bildiren fiillerin birden fazla kalıpları vardır. “Promise”, “agree”, “admit” ve “suggest” ten sonra “THAT + cümle” kullanabiliriz.)

Example (Örnek):
James admitted being in love with her. / James admitted that he was in love with her.
(James ona aşık oldugunu itiraf etti. / James ona aşık olduğunu itiraf etti.)
