INGILIZCE PREPOSITIONS OF MOVEMENT – HAREKET EDATLARI – TÜRKÇE KONU ANLATIMI

İngilizce’de edatlar hareket kavramını ifade etmek amaçlı kullanılır.

In English, we use prepositions to describe notions of movement.

For example: (Örneğin)

across – from one side to the other side eg. She swam across the river. (O nehrin karşısına (karşı tarafına) yüzdü.)

along – in a line; from one point to another eg. They’re walking along the beach. (Onlar sahil boyunca yürüyor.)

down – from high to low eg. He ran down the hill. (O tepeden aşağı koştu.)

into – entering something eg. The boy climbed into a box. (Çocuk bir kutunun içine tırmandı.)

off – away from something eg. The cat jumped off the wall. (Kedi duvardan (uzağa) atladı.)

onto – moving to a place eg. The passengers stepped onto the platform. (Yolcular platformun üzerinde yürüdü.)

out of – leaving something eg. The bird flew out of its cage. (Kuş kafesinden dışarı uçtu.)

over – above something eg. The pedestrian walked over the bridge. (Yayalar köprünün üzerinde yürüdü.)

past – going near something eg. She walks past the post office on her way to work. (İşe gidiş yolunda o postanenin yanından geçer.)

round – moving in a circle eg. Go round the monument and straight ahead to the park. (Anıtın etrafından dön ve parka düz git.)

through – going from one point to another in the middle of something eg. You shouldn’t walk through the park at night. (Geceleri parkın içinden geçmemelisin.)

to – towards something eg. I’m going to Australia for a holiday next month. (Önümüzdeki ay Avustralya’ya tatile gidiyorum.)
