INGILIZCE THIRD CONDITIONAL – ÜÇÜNCÜ ŞART KIPI – TÜRKÇE KONU ANLATIMI

Üçüncü Şart Kipini geçmişteki hayali durumlar hakkında konuşmak içim kullanırız.Genellikle onlar gerçekten olanın tersidir.

We use the third conditional to talk about imaginary situations in the past. They are often the opposite of what has actually happened.

FORM: If + subject + past perfect(if clause), subject + would + have + past participle(main clause)

(ŞEKİL: If + özne + miş’li geçmiş zaman(if tümcesi), özne + would + have + geçmiş zaman ortacı(ana tümce))

eg If he hadn’t worn a bullet-proof vest, he would have been shot dead. (He did wear a vest and he wasn’t shot dead)

(Örnek: Kurşun geçirmez yelek taşımız olmasaydı eğer, vurulup ölmüş olacaktı. (O bir kurşun geçirmez yelek kullandı ve bundan dolayı vurulup ölmedi))

If I had studied for the exam, I would have passed. ( I didn’t study and I didn’t pass)(Sınav için çalışmış olsaydım, onu geçmiş olacaktım. (Çalışmadım ve geçemedim))

We can use could and might in the main clause to mean “would perhaps”(“Could ve might” ana tümcede “belki olabilir” anlamında kullanılabilir.)

If I had studied for the exam, I might have passed.(Sınav için çalışmış olsaydım, onu geçmiş olabilirdim.)

If It had been me, I might have called the police.(Ben olsaydım, polisi çağırmış olabilirdim.)

The if clause can be first or second in the sentence. (“If” tümcesi cümlede ilk veya ikinci sırada yer alabilir.)

NB: We make questions in the third conditional with: (Question word) +would +subject + have + past participle… +if + subject + past perfect simple?

(NOT: Üçüncü şart kipinde şu şekilde sorular sorarız: (Soru kelimesi) + would + özne + have + geçmiş zaman ortacı… +if + özne + yalın miş’li geçmiş zaman? )

eg. What would you have done if you’d seen him? (Örnek: Onu görseydin ne yapardın?)

We can also use imagine and suppose instead of if in third conditional questions.(Üçüncü şart kipi sorularındaki “if” yerine “imagine” ve “suppose” de kullanabiliriz.)

eg. Imagine you’d seen him, what would you have done?(Örnek: Hayal et ki onu gördün, ne yapardın bu durumda?)
