INGILIZCE PREPOSITIONS OF PLACE – YER EDATLARI – TÜRKÇE KONU ANLATIMI

Yer kavramlarını ifade etmek için, İngilizce’de aşağıdaki edatlar kullanılır :

To express notions of place, English uses the following prepositions:

in – to express something contained (İçinde -Bir şeyin içerildiğini ifade etmek)

on – to talk about the surface (Üzerinde – Bir şeyin başka bir şeyin yüzeyinde olduğunu ifade etmek)

at – to talk about a general vicinity (de – da – Bir şeyin genel konumunu belirtmek)

For example: (Örneğin)

There is a wasp in the room. (Odada (içinde) bir yaban arısı var.)

I left your keys on the table. (Anahtarlarını masanın üzerine bıraktım.)

She was waiting at the corner. (O köşede bekliyordu.)

There are also many other prepositions to describe where something is!
(Bir şeylerin nerede olduğunu belirtmek için kullanılan bir çok edat bulunur!)

above – higher than something eg. The picture hangs above my bed. (Resim yatağımın (üzerinde – yukarısında) asılı.)

behind – at the back of eg. The coats are behind the door. (Paltolar kapının arkasında.)

between – in the middle of two things eg. The cafe is between the supermarket and the library. (Cafe süpermarket ile kütüphanenin arasında.)

near – close to eg. Our house is near the school. (Bizim ev okula yakın.)

in front of – opposite of behind eg. The coffee table is in front of the sofa. (Kahve masası koltuğun önünde.)

next to – beside eg. the plant is next to the window. (Bitki pencerenin yanında.)

opposite – facing on the other side eg. The police stood opposite the protesters. (Polis göstericilerin karşısında durdu.)

under – below something eg. The cat sat under the table. (Kedi masanın altında oturdu.)
