“Have” ve “Have got” arasındaki fark kafa karıştırıcı olabilir.
The differences between ‘have’ and ‘have got’ can be confusing.

‘Have’ and ‘Have got’ are used for possession.
(“Have” ve “Have got” sahiplik / aidiyet belitmek için kullanılır.)

Example:(Önrnekler:)

Jack has got a beautiful house. OR Jack has a beautiful house. (“Jack güzel bir eve sahip.” veya “Jack güzel bir eve sahip.”)

Only ‘have’ is used when talking about actions.
(Sadece “have” bir eylem hakkında konuşulurken kullanılır.)

Example:(Önrnekler:)

I usually have breakfast at 8 o’clock. NOT I usually have got breakfast at 8 o’clock. (Genellikle sekizde kahvaltı ederim. Bu durumda “have got” kullanılmaz.)

The question form for ‘have’ follows regular present simple:
(Soru formunda “have” geniş zamanı takip eder.)

Do you have a fast car? NOT Have you a fast car?

‘Have’ and ‘Have got’ are only used in the present simple. Use ‘have’ for the past simple or future forms.

Example: She had a copy of that book.

There is no contracted form for ‘Have’ in the positive form. The contracted form is used for ‘have got’

Example: I have a red bicycle. OR I’ve got a red bicycle. NOT I’ve a red bicycle.

Functions:

1. We use ‘have got’ and ‘have’ to talk about possession.

I’ve got a new house / I have a new house.

Has she got a car? / Does she have a car?

2. We use ‘have got’ and ‘have’ to talk about relationships.

Have you got a girlfriend? / Do you have a girlfriend?

He’s got three brothers / He has three brothers.

3. We use have got and have to talk about illnesses.

I’ve got a bad cold / I have a bad cold.

4. We use have got and have to talk about characteristics.

Her office has got a nice view / Her office has a nice view.

Why has he got a tattoo? / Why does he have a tattoo?

‘Have got’ is more common and sounds more natural in informal language.
